LSS Community Care Ventura County is pleased to announce its major fundraiser for 2016, a Walkathon on the beautiful campus of California Lutheran University. Over 200 walkers are expected, and the goal is to raise $30,000, which will go to services for the homeless and low income in the community. Breakfast will be served to the hungry walkers and a raffle will take place at the event.

The LSS Community Care site in Thousand Oaks serves all of Ventura County.   LSS provides a food pantry, grocery vouchers, showers, and laundry and mail services.  LSS also offers Case Management and referrals, as well as assistance with dental, vision, and prescriptions.  Rental and utility assistance are also available.  Lunches for our homeless clients are provided daily, as are breakfast items.  More than 20 faith and civic groups, accounting for over 700 volunteers, support LSS’s meal and shelter program.  This program provides a hot dinner 365 evenings a year, and overnight shelter for the homeless from December 1 through March 31.

LSS Community Care Ventura County also sponsors UpliftVC, a relationship-based model that builds an alliance between local citizens and those who have low incomes, and offers tools and encouragement for those in need to lift themselves out of poverty.
