    PURPLE PUNCH OUT: KNOCKING OUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
     
    Newbury Park, CA– Domestic violence occurs across the world, in various cultures, and affects people across society, irrespective of economic status. Ventura County has one of the highest rates of domestic violence in California, with an accounted 8,000 cases in 2014 alone, and the number of reported cases continue to rise.
     
    On Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 3pm – 6pm, TITLE Boxing Club in Newbury Park will be partnering with Interface Children & Family Services and two-time World Champion Boxer Maureen Shea in the “Purple Punch Out: Knocking Out Domestic Violence”. The event will kick off at 3:00pm with a special presentation by Lisa Oliver - General Manager of TITLE Boxing and Nicholle Gonzalez-Seitz, Director of Interface Family Violence Intervention Services. At 3:30pm, Maureen Shea will be sharing a motivational message on her experiences with Domestic Violence followed by an intro boxing class for all levels by Golden Glove Champion and TITLE Boxing Trainer Blydell Martin at 4:15pm. There will also be raffles, meet and greet, and signings with special guests. This event is free and open to the public, with a $5 suggested donation for hand wraps if participating in the boxing class.     Outside of the ring, Maureen is a motivational speaker and frequently speaks at local businesses, schools and non-profit organizations. As part of the event, Maureen will be sharing her stories from her own personal and professional experiences in and out of the ring, combining her stories of overcoming many obstacles including being a victim of abuse and domestic violence to achieving her current successes by facing their challenges, changing their lives and being determined to succeed.
