United Way of Ventura County’s (UWVC) will present awards in volunteerism, corporate citizenship, and community impact at the 16th Annual Virtual Spirit Awards Gala and 75th Anniversary Celebration November 12, celebrating community champions that embody the spirit of United Way in advancing the common good in Ventura County.
The virtual gala will be streamed via YouTube Live on Thursday, November 12, from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. All proceeds will benefit United Way Community Impact programs.
“We’re excited to come together virtually for the 16th Annual Spirit Awards Gala & 75th Anniversary Celebration recognizing the Spirit of Community Partnership in Ventura County,” said Eric Harrison, CEO of United Way of Ventura County. “Amidst this challenging year, we are looking forward to celebrating and honoring all of the extraordinary achievement of folks in our community who are advancing the common good.”
Community champions to be feted:
• John Lindsey, Milton M. Teague Award for Outstanding Community Volunteerism
• Tara Carruth, Douglas Shively Award for Outstanding Community Impact
• Procter & Gamble, Roy Pinkerton Award for Top Corporate Citizenship
The virtual event will feature a special musical performance by powerhouse singer and songwriter Alisan Porter who made TV history as Christina Aguilera’s first win on Season 10 of NBC’s mega hit show The Voice. As an actor, Alisan’s breakout role came in 1991, when she played the lead in the film Curly Sue opposite Jim Belushi. As a mother of two, Alisan lends her support to philanthropic causes relating to women and family. One accomplishment of which she is very proud is her performance at the 2016 UN World Humanitarian Day, helping to support women and children refugees in crisis.
