Please RSVP 805-379-4777
Often times when faced with cancer we set out to tackle the main concern, the cancer itself. But what many don’t know is that our mouths are the gateway to health and the rest of our body. Cancer and its therapies can have many effects on the mouth and avoiding or alleviating these situations is vital to the health of the patient. This course sets out to shed light on the importance of oral care, during and after treatment, for a life lived as full and comfortably as possible. Rebekah Emelo will discuss why our mouths are affected by cancer and review strategies for taking care of your oral environment.
Rebekah Emelo is at Oxnard College, one of the highest ranking dental hygiene schools in the nation. Her extensive education and training in the health sciences have equipped her with the tools to assess needs and develop programs for individuals who have overcome cancer and are left with special needs in their oral environment.
