Bringing Transformational Change to Health Care

CVS Health President and CEO Larry Merlo wants to re-design America’s health care system to center it around the needs of consumers. He argues that a combination of data-driven insights, new digital technologies, and more frequent in-person engagement can help individuals achieve their best health and avoid unnecessary visits to the hospital and emergency room. To make his ambitious vision a reality, he’s launched a disruptive $69 billion merger with health insurer Aetna. His plans include remaking 10,000 CVS pharmacies into a convenient, new front door to the nation’s health care system, with pharmacy, health, and consultation services to make care more local, affordable, and easier to use.
