Disasters can happen at any time and anywhere.   You need to be prepared to take action. Whether it is a natural disaster like an earthquake or fire. Or an accident like a snake bite or sunburn

This month is a good time to review your family’s emergency plans and ensure you’ve incorporated a plan for your pets as well.

Do you have a veterinary approved first aid kit?

Is your first aid or disaster kit for use on fur and contains pet safe products?

Is your pet up to date on their vaccinations?

Do you have their health records and a current picture in their carrier or crate?

Is your pet's Microchip information current.  If you have moved or changed phone numbers you must update your registration.

Do you keep extra leashes, bowls, newspapers, trash bags, cat litter, litter pans and at least a five-day supply of pet food and water on hand?

Carriers and crates should be large enough for each pet to stand up, turn around and lie down comfortably.

If you are away from home and separated from your pet during a disaster have you left instructions with a friend,  neighbor or vet on care of your pets.
Many have learned in recent years of the importance of emergency preparedness in case of natural disaster or other emergencies. Unfortunately, a large percentage of pet owners are unprepared for disasters and emergencies when it comes to their pet. More than 50 percent of pet owners are not adequately prepared to take care of their pet in the event of a disaster.

Your pet is entirely dependent upon you to ensure their physical and emotional well-being. VEMA (Veterinary Emergency Medical Assistance) is the only pet emergency kit available made specifically for animals by veterinarians!
