Vet’s Here donates supplies to Montecito mudslide search dogs
Mobile veterinary practice gathers supplies for working dogs aiding in rescue efforts
Conejo Valley, Calif. (Jan. 25, 2018) — After heavy rains triggered catastrophic mudslides in Montecito, Vet’s Here, a full-service mobile veterinary practice, donated supplies to help care for the search dogs working to rescue victims and clear the roads.
In response to the mudslides, search and rescue dogs were sent out on 12-hour shifts in the Montecito and Summerland community to recover missing people. To help keep these hard-working dogs healthy and relieve any injuries they acquire on the job, Vet’s Here donated a variety of antibiotics, bandage materials, eye ointments and disinfectants. Many Vet’s Here customers also contributed donations to these efforts.
“We hope these supplies help rejuvenate the rescue dogs,” said Dr. Autumn Fanning, president and CEO of Vet’s Here. “Rescue missions like this can take a toll on the dogs, and we want to do everything we can to help care for them. These brave canines are saving lives, and this is our way of thanking them for their service.”
Volunteer veterinarians have been checking the dogs twice a day to ensure they are still in good health and able to continue to work. As a result of the challenging conditions of the mudslide work environment, the dogs are suffering from ailments such as contact dermatitis, eye irritations and lacerations. The supplies Vet’s Here donated will help treat these conditions as the dogs continue their search.
