    Name: Education Committee
    Date: May 5, 2022
    Time: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM PDT
    Event Description:

The Education Committee works to improve the future quality of your workforce by hosting quality educational programs through local partnerships. Meetings include a presentation by featured speakers in the areas of Education, Job Training, Human Resources, Community Programs, and updates from our local partners.

The Education Committee coordinates interaction between businesses, local school districts, private schools and universities.

This committee also leads our Teacher of the Month Program where we honor educational excellence by rewarding teachers with a plaque in their name and gifts from Chamber Members. This is an opportunity for Chamber Members (you) to acknowledge our educators while also giving a brief description of your organization!

    This Month's Speaker:

    Ashley Young
    Amgen Foundation

Ashley Young manages the Amgen Foundation's science education portfolio with a particular focus on secondary and undergraduate programs. Sparked by a chapter on DNA in her high school biology textbook and further solidified by her participation as a student in the Amgen Biotech Experience, Ashley's passion for molecular biology has led her to experience science in all its diversity, working variously as an academic researcher, science teacher, and developer of training materials for the biotechnology industry. Ashley is now delighted to advocate for quality science education through the Amgen Foundation's global work.

Ashley holds a BS in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics and an M.Ed, both from the University of California, Los Angeles.
