Dr. Mark McLaughlin has been the Proud Superintendent of Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) since the fall of 2017.
Throughout his tenure with the CVUSD, Dr. McLaughlin has not only successfully led the District through many challenges, but he has also led the District’s efforts to continually adapt and innovate to best serve all students in the CVUSD. This includes a focus on students’ well-being with the creation of Wellness Rooms at school sites to provide additional mental health resources and support. A focus on innovative, new programs including the August 2022 launch of the Conejo Valley’s first Spanish-English Dual Language Immersion Program at Conejo Elementary School, and the development of a five-year Strategic Arts Education Plan which aims to provide equitable access to the arts for all students by reducing barriers, creating pathways for the continuance of arts studies, and more. Under his leadership, the CVUSD continues to provide exceptional educational experiences for all preschool through post-secondary students.
Dr. McLaughlin served as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for CVUSD from 2013 until the spring of 2017, when he was announced as the Interim Superintendent. While the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, he supervised the placement of staff for 27 schools, as well as District office level positions. Prior to CVUSD, he worked for the Fontana Unified School District as the Director of Certificated Human Resources. He also held roles in FUSD as a teacher and administrator at both the elementary and secondary levels.
Dr. McLaughlin holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from California Lutheran University, a Master’s degree in Education with an Emphasis in School Administration from Azusa Pacific University, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Montana-Western. Dr. McLaughlin is a husband and a father of three.
