Why You Should Tune In: CalChamber’s BACA Initiative

The Building an Affordable California Act (BACA) is a high-priority initiative on the upcoming ballot designed to tackle the state's housing crisis by streamlining the development process. Chamber members should tune in to understand how this measure seeks to:

    • Reduce Costly Delays: Accelerate the timeline for housing projects to lower overall costs.
    • Encourage Investment: Create a more predictable regulatory environment for local businesses and developers.
    • Support the Workforce: Increase the availability of middle-income housing, ensuring our local workforce can afford to live where they work.

    About Our Speaker: George Ashford

George is a BCFS Public Affairs strategist with a proven track record in California policy, having co-founded the Student HOMES Coalition and led the state’s largest youth advocacy organization, Generation Up. He holds a degree in Public Policy from Claremont McKenna College and brings extensive experience in legislative campaigns and coalition building to the stage.

Thank you for your understanding and flexibility in this matter.

Legislative Roundtable provides a setting for dialogue to take place on public policy issues and gives public agency staff, elected officials, their staff and businesses an opportunity to network. The meeting includes a guest speaker on a public sector topic and regular updates from our local cities, agencies, and elected officials.

Staff members provide brief reports from their prospective agencies to inform each other and members of the chamber of upcoming events or other items of interest.

Consider attending this meeting if you:
    • Want to stay updated on local, state, and federal legislation and how it may affect your business.
    • Would like to network with public agency staff, elected officials and their staff, and other chamber members.
    • Have a general interest in public policy or local government.
    • All chamber members are welcome to attend!
