    Event Description:

    Legislative Roundtable provides a setting for dialogue to take place on public policy issues and gives public agency staff, elected officials, their staff and businesses an opportunity to network. The meeting includes a guest speaker on a public sector topic and regular updates from our local cities, agencies, and elected officials.

    Staff members provide brief reports from their prospective agencies to inform each other and members of the chamber of upcoming events or other items of interest.

    Robert Scholz, LMFT, LPCC

    Robert will be speaking on new workplace violence prevention legislation (SB 553) that was signed into law late last year and takes effect July 1st, 2024. We invite you to join us, learn about how SB553 will impact the workplace, and ask Robert your questions on how it'll impact your business. 

    Robert's Bio:
    Robert has served in many clinical and leadership roles over his twenty plus years working in university, community mental health agencies, forensic psychology and private practice settings. Robert’s company, The Change Place, offers therapy, executive coaching and consulting services to a diverse group of clients. Robert trains and consults extensively to professionals in education, mental health and corporate settings. Frequent topics he consults around/ trains on include – trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, crisis management, burnout and compassionate leadership. He has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications on topics of men’s mental health, addiction treatment, disaster mental health, and suicide/ threat assessment. Robert has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Pepperdine’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology for many years.

    Most recently, he and other experts in the field of Crisis Management created the new Workplace Violence Prevention Association, www.wvpa.org, that helps businesses in California and beyond meet the requirements of the new workplace violence prevention legislation (SB 553) that was signed into law late last year and takes effect July 1st, 2024.
