    Join us for a timely discussion on the 2025 California State Budget and the critical issue of Unemployment Debt in California. Governor Newsom's proposed budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year focuses on fiscal stability, continued investments in key sectors such as education, public safety, and wildfire prevention, and a balanced approach to managing state revenues. The state also faces a significant challenge in addressing unemployment insurance debt, which has accumulated in recent years. Learn about how the state plans to manage these financial obligations and what businesses should know as California navigates these economic pressures.

    Christian Beltran - Deputy Director of Legislation | California Department of Finance
    Christian Beltran has worked for the California Department of Finance since 2018 and is currently the Deputy Director of Legislation. Prior to working at Finance, Christian worked for the California State Senate where he focused on several legislative issue areas including Revenue and Taxation, Insurance, and Local Government. Additionally, he brings municipal finance experience having worked for the City of Los Angeles within the office of the City Administrative Officer, the City of Sacramento within the Finance Department, and Ramirez & Co., Inc. as an investment banking analyst within the Public Finance Division focusing on municipal debt issuances. He holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Economics from Loyola Marymount University; a Graduate Certificate in Applied Policy and Government from California State University, Sacramento; and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Southern California.

    Teresa Calvert - Program Budget Manager | California Department of Finance

    Teresa Calvert is a Program Budget Manager with the Department of Finance.  She has worked in various roles and policy areas during her time at the Department of Finance, including health, human services, and environmental fiscal policy assignments.  Her current portfolio at the Department consists of issues related to energy, transportation, housing and homelessness, labor, and local government.   She holds an undergraduate degree in Economics & Sociology from Rice University and an MA in Economics from Vanderbilt University.
     



    Legislative Roundtable provides a setting for dialogue to take place on public policy issues and gives public agency staff, elected officials, their staff and businesses an opportunity to network. The meeting includes a guest speaker on a public sector topic and regular updates from our local cities, agencies, and elected officials.

    Staff members provide brief reports from their prospective agencies to inform each other and members of the chamber of upcoming events or other items of interest.
