American Medical Response Ventura County and Gold Coast Ambulance Are Prepared to Respond to County’s RFP for Services

(VENTURA COUNTY, Calif.) — At the July 26, 2022, Ventura County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board voted to place the emergency ambulance service contract out for competitive bid. The current contract for American Medical Response (AMR) Ventura County, and its affiliate Gold Coast Ambulance, is up in 2024, with two one-year extensions at the County’s option, if needed, to 2026.

“AMR Ventura County and Gold Coast Ambulance are proud to have provided our amazing community with more than 70 years of reliable, high-quality medical care and emergency transport services,” said Mike Sanders, regional director of AMR Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. “As with any long-term contract, we understand and respect the decision for the County to go out to bid — this ensures an equitable process.”

In the time that AMR and Gold Coast Ambulance have been caring for Ventura County, the company has worked closely with the County to adapt services to meet the community’s growing and changing needs. AMR and Gold Coast provide emergency and non-emergency services, including advanced and basic life support, critical care transport, bariatric transport, special event services, community paramedics, and community education. To further serve the residents of Ventura County, AMR and Gold Coast Ambulance also operate a successful Critical Incident Stress Management team. This team, which includes a Global Medical Response certified therapy dog, provides support to first responders after difficult calls and critical events.

"Our fast response times, consistent adherence to the County’s compliance standards, and local, skilled and educated EMTs and paramedics provide top-notch quality care that the county can continue to rely upon,” said Sanders. “We are active in our community and our service to it. And we incorporate top-of-the-line equipment, proprietary technology and advanced procedures where possible. We look forward to the opportunity to share our story and our commitment to Ventura County through this competitive bid process. And in the meantime, we’ll still be ready at a moment’s notice to respond to emergencies and provide lifesaving care to those in need.”

AMR and Gold Coast Ambulance staff 45 emergency and non-emergency ambulances at peak throughout the County, respond to more than 80,000 calls annually and employ 250 local paramedics and EMTs. For more information, visit https://www.amr.net.
