CONEJO FREE CLINIC ANNOUNCES LEANNE TAPPER AS
INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., January 1, 2022 – Conejo Free Clinic, a leader in the non-profit safety net for low-income, uninsured adults and children in Ventura County and North Los Angeles County, today announced that Leanne Tapper has been named as Interim Executive Director.
Tapper has over ten years of experience in the field of Human Resources most recently at United Online, Inc. Prior to that, Tapper served as a Project Manager at the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) working in the field of donor cultivation and development and initiated a successful national grassroots campaign. She has also served on the PTA Board at Cypress Elementary in Newbury Park for the last four years including the role of PTA President.
“We are thrilled to welcome Leanne as our new Executive Director,” says Chairman of the Board, Ricardo Dent. “She brings a great deal of experience, enthusiasm, and outstanding communication skills to our organization. We feel very lucky to have found her and look forward to many successful years with her at the helm.” When Tapper assumes the role on January 1, she will manage all day-to-day operations for the Conejo Free Clinic which has been in existence since 1976. Fully without charge, the Conejo Free Clinic provides over 300 three-hour clinics annually in general health, family practice, women's health, pediatrics and dentistry.
For about 2,500 underserved people each year, the CFC provides free lab tests, diagnostic imaging, including mammograms, immunizations, and one-on-one advocacy/facilitation to advanced care when needed. The state-of-the-art Dental Clinic provides free dentistry for about 700 people each year: evaluations, cleanings, fillings, and extractions. The CFC also offers a thriving evening Legal Clinic Program that serves about 400 people annually in family law, immigration, personal injury, bankruptcy, and other areas. It is staffed by private practice attorneys who generously give their personal time and professional expertise to people in desperate need of legal direction. Our Legal Clinic Program is supported and endorsed by the Ventura County Bar Association. Tapper will also lead fundraising programs, as well as marketing and community engagement initiatives. “I am incredibly humbled and honored to join the Conejo Free Clinic as the new Interim Executive Director. The Clinic is poised to really develop its vision and build on the tremendous momentum of the past few years. I appreciate the board’s confidence in me, and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to lead such a great organization,” says Tapper. Tapper received a BA Degree in Psychology and a Minor of Physiology and Nutrition from University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Human Resources Management Certificate from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She also holds a PHR (Professional in Human Resources Certificate) from SHRM. Tapper succeeds Executive Director, Teresa Seely, who assumed the role in 2007. Its mission is to provide free medical, dental, and legal services to low-income adults and children people who have no other access to care.
