(Thousand Oaks, CA) Grammy Award winning pop keyboardist and composer Gregg Karukas will perform at the Gardens of the World August 16, 2015 in a free concert.  A Thousand Oaks resident, Karukas is known worldwide for his musical pop and jazz hits.

The Karukas career really began in the mid-1980s, when he moved to Los Angeles and began playing with such popular musicians as Patti Austin, Shelby Flint, Richard Elliot, Melissa Manchester, Ronnie Laws, and Sergio Mendes. He was also the original keyboardist with the Rippingtons and recorded with jazz greats Kenny G and David Benoit.  He even had his own band, which featured a young, undiscovered sax player named Dave Koz.

Karukas has become one of the smooth jazz genre’s most dynamic live performers, since he first took the stage at the 1987 Catalina Jazz Festival with the Rippingtons.  He also toured many years with Boney James, Rick Braun, Eric Marienthal, and Larry Carlton.

The concert is at the Gardens of the World located across from the Thousand Oaks Civic Center from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Lawn seating is available in front of the Gardens of the World’s American Bandstand.  Blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic baskets are welcomed; however, smoking, alcohol, glass containers and pets are not allowed.

No parking is permitted at the Gardens of the World for these events.  There is free parking available along Thousand Oaks Boulevard in front of the Gardens and paid parking is available at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza across the street.
