Rustic Italian dining concept debuted in Westlake Village
Los Angeles, CA. November, 2014 - A labor of love, Giardino Restaurant is the result of the hard work and dedication of Italian owners Giorgio Pierangeli and Matteo Carletti. With a combined 40 years of experience in the Italian culinary and hospitality business, the dynamic duo's collaborative vision to provide authentic yet refined Italian cuisine is fully realized as they open their first joint venture.
Giardino, meaning garden in Italian, is collaboratively designed by owner Matteo Carletti and decorator Robert Escalera. Featuring an intimate yet welcoming 50-seat dining room, Giardino is complemented with a wall to wall handmade wine rack highlighted with vintage wares, eye-catching garden inspired handmade fixtures, fresh flowers and unique placements of antique china. For the al fresco angeleno, a 60-seat outdoor garden with stunning gazebos and hand-woven baskets chandeliers that will offer an experience that is simultaneously comfortable, vibrant and social. "We wanted to create an Italian restaurant that combines the rustic and casual attitude of Italian culture with a level of refinement & quality that both Westlake locals and visitors will appreciate" says Carletti
Hot on the heels of his three already successful restaurants, (Oliva, Pecorino, & Local Table), Pierangeli states "Giardino Restaurant will inject dining excitement into the culinary landscape of Westlake Village". At the helm of the kitchen will be the charismatic executive chef Francesco Pesce, formerly of Crudo in Santa Barbara and previous chef of Michelin Starred Locanda Locatelli in London. His Italian Marche roots and two decades of traditional Italian cooking in restaurants across the globe naturally inspired much of the made from scratch menu. With daily specials highlighted on 2 chalkboards, guests can start the night off with an array of delectable antipasti such as Seppie al guazzetto, cuttlefish in white wine tomato broth, swiss chard and polenta or Crudo di tonno, thinly sliced ahi tuna, topped with baby artichoke, crispy pearl onions and spicy scented vinaigrette. Thrilling primi plates to include selections of Tortellini bietole e mascarpone, fresh made tortellini stuffed with beets and mascarpone cheese or Vincisgrassi, a traditional lasagna exclusive to the Marche region of Italy; Secondi offerings ranging from Filetto di Salmone, pan roasted salmon filet with cherry tomatoes and sweet potato puree, Veal Scaloppina topped with Parma ham and sage served with baked eggplant, parmigiano reggiano and wild mushroom. Rounding out the experience, guests should be prepared to enjoy traditionally decadent homemade desserts and an extensively curated wine list with suggested food pairings.
Giardino restaurant is bringing Italy’s Marche region to Westlake and represents a love letter home on behalf of Giorgio, Matteo and Francesco.
