    Alexander Technique: A New Look at Tension Patterns (2 sessions) with Shulamit Sendowski, M.AmSAT

    The Alexander Technique is a gentle body movement technique developed in England over 100 years ago by F.M. Alexander. Workshop leader, Shulamit Sendowski, will demonstrate how to transform physical stress and tension into ease, balance, and coordination. Awareness of tension habits in simple daily movements like sitting, standing, walking & bending will be explored. This is a 2 week course, the second week expanding on the first one.
    Shulamit is certified by the Alexander Training Institute of Los Angeles and the American Society for the Alexander Technique. She has been teaching the Alexander Technique to individuals and groups since 1991.

    20-25% of women will develop lymphedema within the first 2 years after breast cancer surgery and radiation and up to 72% of women experience lymphatic cording or axillary web syndrome associated with lymph node dissection. This workshop will educate you about risk reduction, treatment, and exercise/activity guide lines for breast cancer survivors with and without lymphedema.
     
    Claudia was born and trained in Germany as a physical therapist and has been practicing in California for the last 26 years. As a clinician in outpatient settings she specialized in 2001 in the treatment of patients with primary and secondary lymphedemas, as well as wound care patients with chronic ulcers. In 2010, she launched the Lymphedema Program at Community Memorial Health System in Ventura and has developed a close working relationship with the Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine in Ventura, the Coastal Communities Cancer Center in Ventura, the Cancer Center of Ventura County, and the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara with Sansum Clinic. Her passion is oncology rehabilitation and survivor care.

    This media and interactive workshop with Dr. John Horton, includes a video, "25,550 Days" that addresses living in the moment and dealing with life's changes.
     
    Dr. John Horton in a primary care physician and has a private practice in Westlake Village.  He is a member of the Hospice Development Committee in Westlake Village.  Dr. Horton received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years.

    Join us for a new, limited-time summer yoga class.  This popular yoga class uses gentle stretching, movement, and breathing to increase flexibility, aid in stress reduction, and promote a sense of well-being.  No experience required.     Rachel Foster is an uplifting, kindhearted yoga teacher from Thousand Oaks, CA. She has been practicing yoga for 8 years and graduated from her 200 hour yoga teacher training in spring 2017. Rachel's soothing yin-style yoga classes are grounding and nurturing, as she focuses on gentle movement to create a relaxing, peaceful connection. Each session can be adapted for entry-level beginners to experienced participants. All are welcome.
