THOUSAND OAKS (Calif.)- Athletic Society Thousand Oaks will host a four-event Quadrathalon on Sunday, September 22 as a fun and unique way to raise funds for Fit 4 The Cause, a non-profit that provides exercise programs and wellness education to at-risk youth, people with disabilities and fragile seniors.

The Second Fit 4 The Cause Quadrathlon takes place at Athletic Society, located at 2400 Willow Lane in Thousand Oaks. All proceeds will be donated directly to Fit 4 The Cause, which provides licensed fitness instructors and nutritional educators at no cost to low-income communities, where many residents experience health-related challenges. Since its beginning in 2014, Fit 4 The Cause has served thousands of beneficiaries throughout Ventura as well as Simi Valley, the Conejo Valley and the San Fernando Valley.

A Quadrathlon means four different athletic events. The Fit 4 The Cause race kicks off at 8:00 a.m. with a walk/run of the 1.1 mile loop starting from Athletic Society Thousand Oaks heading toward The Lakes and back. Advanced athletes can run the loop multiple times and beginners or intermediate participants may walk or jog at their own pace. At 9:30 a.m. participants will complete an indoor one-hour cycling class with Quadrathlon Co-Chair Helene Gebbia, followed by an hour of strength training led by Athletic Society’s Donna Connor. Connor is Athletic Society’s group exercise manager and a longtime fitness instructor and trainer. The last leg of the race requires 10 lengths in the pool where each lane accommodates beginners, intermediate and advanced swimmers. (*Each event time is subject to slight change.)

“Limited to 50 participants, we filled the ten available teams immediately following our first announcement,” said Fit 4 The Cause Founder and Executive Director Cindy Rakowitz. “We encourage the participants to ‘complete’ rather than ‘compete’ attracting athletes at various fitness levels.”

Event Sponsors include BBSI, G&B Law, Corp Strat and Dancing with our Future Stars. Creative team naming is a race tradition, featuring Endgame; High Fives; Quadrophenia; Epic; Squar Milner Mania; Super DWOFS; Team Grace; Humana and OMyQuad.

Each participant will have their own crowdfunding page, easily accessed at http://quad2019.everydayhero.do/.

Helene Gebbia and Kim Plisky are the event co-chairs. Gebbia participated in the first Fit 4 The Cause Quadrathlon in 2017 as the spin class instructor and has been teaching fitness classes for over 14 years. “I bring my passion for health and wellness to my classes by empowering the members to stay challenged and motivated to reach their goals,” said Gebbia, who has volunteered with several local non-profits and has worked for the YMCA as a fundraiser and event coordinator for projects and events focused on health and community.

Plisky is the co-founder and co-owner of Aviara Real Estate which is in its fifteenth year in Westlake Village. Plisky has been in real estate since 1994 and in the Conejo Valley since 1989 and specializes in the residential real estate market. Plisky enjoys daily workouts at the Athletic Society Club, walking her rescue dog Oliver, and spending time with her husband, Gunnar.

Event sponsorships must be confirmed no later than July 20, 2019. Sponsorship levels range from $500 to $2,000. Raffle items, goodie bag items and in-kind food sponsorships are available.
