The two branches of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA are holding “Healthy Kids’ Day,” a free community event to inspire kids to keep their minds and bodies active during the summer. The Simi Valley Family YMCA Healthy Kids’ Day is Saturday, April 22 and the Yarrow Family YMCA Healthy Kids’ Day in Westlake Village is Saturday, April 29. Both events are from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Kids can participate in rock wall climbing, face painting, a boat-building contest, a dunk tank and arts and crafts. Adults and kids can also take part in free enrichment classes.

Healthy Kids Day is a national event that began 30 years ago. YMCAs around the country participate each spring.

“It’s important for kids to stay active and learning during the summer, not just during the school year,” says Ronnie Stone, YMCA President and CEO. “Healthy Kids Day is a great way to encourage families to start planning summer activities.”

The Yarrow Family YMCA is at 31105 East Thousand Oaks Blvd., Westlake Village (818-707-9622) and the Simi Valley Family YMCA is at 3200 Cochran St., Simi Valley (805-583-5338).
