Town Hall Los Angeles Event - Global Humanitarians: A New Wave of Social Change
    May 17, 2018
    11:30 am - 1:30 pm
    Venue: City Club Los Angeles

In the era of social media and digital engagement, most young professionals are more engaged with the latest app or social network rather than making change. There is, however, a new generation of young people who combine new age trends with their passion for social good in an effort to change the lives of others on a global scale.

A panel of enterprising young professionals share their individual projects that are affecting and bettering the lives of people across the world. Their discussion will not only touch on their individual work, but will also illustrate how a generation of young entrepreneurs are building humanitarian businesses and platforms from a granular level.

    Panelists:
    • Seth Maxwell, Founder & CEO, The Thirst Project
Mission: Build a socially-conscious generation of young people who END the global water crisis.
    • Afam Onyema, Director & COO, The GEANCO Foundation
Leads special surgical missions and run maternal and infant health programs in Nigeria.
    • Sadiya Sassine, Community Health Educator – Ethiopia, Peace Corps
    • Nicholas Smith, PhD, Founder and President of the Buseesa Community Development Centre
BCDC operates a microfinance program, health clinic and outreach, and primary school in Western Uganda.

    Moderator:
    • Margaret Martin, DrPH, MPH. Director of Advocacy and Innovation, Harmony Project Founder
