The Harbor House daily lunch program is making some changes. We are changing the time and we are adding hot pick-up dinners.
Beginning on September 1, 2020 our times will change to:
Drop off from 4:00-4:30 PM
Pick up will be from 4:30-6:00 PM
We will remain at the same location at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1 W. Avenida de los Arboles in Thousand Oaks.
We are working with the various meal providers (from the regular meal and shelter program) to see if they are able to bring 50 dinners packed to-go each night. We will continue the lunch program alongside the dinners so as to provide enough food for the individuals and families we are currently serving.
Since March 16, Harbor House has served over 10,000 lunches. That is a testament to this community and the help you have given to those most in need.
Lunch sign-ups are needed, we have our sign up genius set up for September. We have added an Amazon wish list if you would like to shop online and help our clients. You can choose to have the items mailed directly to Harbor House.

We are receiving many requests from families to help pay their rent. Due to workers being laid off, furloughed, or reductions in schedule, it has been very difficult for families to keep up with the expensive rent payments we have in this area. Your financial donations are needed to help keep families housed. Any size donation will be greatly appreciated. All gifts are tax-deductible. In the past, our Adopt a Family program has been a highlight. Our staff and volunteers met with all of the families and created wish lists for each child. These lists were then sent on to different groups and houses of faith where volunteers went shopping and fulfilled these wish lists.
So much has changed due to Covid-19. We can't sit down in person with the families, many groups and houses of faith are not holding services or regular meetings. To still address the need which is even greater this year, we are reimagining the adopt a family program. We will be asking families to return a form by mail or drop off at the lunch program.
We will be asking our donors for gift cards to give to the families. This is the best we can do to to help our families and still keep everyone safe. Our main goal is to help our families. More information will be going out to the groups who have supported this program in the past.
Harbor House Office
The Harbor House office is open, but we are limiting the amount of staff who work in the office at the same time. We are not seeing clients in the office, but working with clients over the phone. We are working as hard as we can to keep up with the call volume If you know of someone in need, they can call our office at 805-464-3533.
