VCCU donates totes and snacks to lend a helping hand
Credit union supports County offices, law enforcement and families in need during pandemic

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (May 5, 2020) — Seeing the challenges the Ventura County community is facing as a result of COVID-19, Ventura County Credit Union (VCCU) stepped up to share their gratitude and help those in need with donations of snacks and tote bags.

On Giving Tuesday, credit union representatives delivered bags filled with Trader Joe’s snacks to various County offices and law enforcement organizations to thank them for their service throughout the pandemic. Carefully following social distancing measures, VCCU team members brought snack bags to the County of Ventura human resources department, County CEO Mike Powers’ office, Sheriff Bill Ayub and his executive team, and the Ventura County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit.

“There are so many people who have made a significant difference in our community’s well-being during these difficult times,” said Linda Rossi, VCCU’s president and CEO. “This is our way of saying thank you to just a few of them, and showing our appreciation for their hard work and courage.”

In addition to showing their gratitude to those who are helping out, VCCU is also doing its own share of supporting the community. The credit union donated a total of more than 2,000 tote bags to Safe Passage, Food Share, the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce and Conejo Community Outreach to assist in these organizations’ efforts to distribute essential supplies and food to families in need.

“Now, more than ever, it is important that we all work together,” Rossi said. “We are always looking for ways to lend our support and help our community rise to the challenges we are facing — and we are thankful for those who are doing the same. It is inspiring to see how much good is being spread, and we are proud to be a part of it.”

To support the health and safety of all, while continuing to provide essential banking services, VCCU is now serving its members online and via telephone. In-branch visits are available by appointment only.
